RESOLUTION NO.5031 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Usher, Brockman, Chinnock, <br /> Magnotto, McBride, Sinagra <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Director of <br />Public Safety to enter into a contract for the purchase of communications <br />equipment for the Department of Police. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the application of the Lakewood Police Department for LEAA <br />funds to bring its radio communications equipment up to current county and federal <br />standards has been approved by the Regional Planning Unit, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 5010 adbpted June 3, 1974 the Director <br />of Public Safety was authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase of comm- <br />unications equipment, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the adoption of Resolution 5010 the Police <br />Department received approval of additional federal monies increasing the federalgrant <br />from $25,000 to a maximum of $35,000, said grant representing 95% of total costs <br />and requiring 5% local funds to be paid by the City, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforementioned authorization, bids have been <br />received and opened which show that the total cost of the communications equipment <br />will range between $45,000 and $46,000, including a one year system maintenance <br />fee, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines it to be in the best interest of the <br />health, safety and welfare of the City that up-to-date communications equipment <br />be acquired~by the Department of Police, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Resolution constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Director of Public Safety be and he is h.ereby <br />authorized and directed to enter into a contract or contracts for the purchase <br />of radio communications equipment, including the purchase of 9 portable radios, <br />1 multi-charter unit, 1 quick charger, the modernization of the base station, the <br />addition of tone coated squelch to all mobile radios and the base stations, and a <br />10-track tape recorder, with the lowest and best bid or bidders after advertisement <br />according to law. <br /> <br /> Section 2. There is hereby appropriated from the General Fund - Police <br />Department Equipment Fund a sum not to exceed $11,000 to pay the City's share of <br />the cost of said equipment. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of. two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and appr~..v~l~b~ the Mayor./ <br /> <br /> Vi~residgm~ <br /> MayOr <br /> <br /> <br />
