RESOLUTION NO. 5122 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Chinnock, Magnotto, Mcbride, <br /> Salmon, Sinagra, Usher, Brockman <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Richard A. Graber for his public service as <br />a Councilman of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ~ichard A. Graber was elected to the office of Councilman of <br />Ward 2 in the C~ty of Lakewood for the term commencing January 1, 1968 and served <br />continuously in that capacity until December 31, 1975, Mr. Graber having chosen <br />not to seek re-elec~ion to that office for the term beginning'January 1, 1976, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Graber most ably and with unique ~istinction served this <br />Council and the cormnunity as President of this Council for the years 1974 and <br />1975 in addition to having previously served as Chairman of numerous committees <br />of Council, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, prior to his election to Council, Richard A. Graber was, on <br /> the 1st day of December, 1963, appointed Director of Finance of the City of <br /> Lakewood, to become the first Certified Public Accountant to hold such position <br /> in the City and that, as Director of Finance, Mr. Graber completely modernized <br /> the City's accounting procedures and was the first Director of Finance in Ohio <br /> to establish a computerized payroll system, both of which resulted in significant <br /> financial savings to the City, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Graber has evidenced continued interest in the progress <br /> and welfare of the City through his association in the YMCA, Lakewood Rotary Club, <br /> Citizens League, his prior membership in the Lakewood Baseball Commission and the <br /> Lakewood Athletic Commission and, in 1966, his service as President of the <br /> Cuyahoga County Municipal Finance Officers Association, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during his 8-year tenure as a Councilman Mr. Graber was <br /> recognized as a conscientious, effective and respected legislator, working <br /> diligently and extensively for the promotion, progress and betterment of the City <br /> of Lakewood and its residents, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that such outstanding public service <br /> rendered by Richard A. Graber be given public cognizance and recognition; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council extends to Richard A. Graber its <br />appreciation and that of all of the citizens of this community for his eight <br />years of distinguished public service as a Councilman of the City of Lakewood <br />and further that this Council wishes him continued years of success, health and <br />prosperity. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Mr. Richard A, <br />Graber, 1057 Eriecliff Drive, Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a copy of this <br />Resolution be spread upon the m~nutes of this~/ing. <br /> <br /> <br />
