RESOLUTION NO. 5151 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Magnotto, McBride, Salmon, <br /> Sinagra, Usher, Brockman <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to honor the Lakewood Auxiliary Police Unit in recognition <br />of its 25 years of dedicated service to the City of Lakewood. <br /> WHEREAS, having been officially established in March, 1951 the Lakewood <br />Auxiliary Police Unit has now completed 25 years of service to the citizens of the <br />City of Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, originally organized to aid in pedestrian and vehicular traffic <br />control, the Lakewood Auxiliary Police Unit has expanded the duties of its members <br />to include regular assignment with Lakewood Police officers, assistance at Lakewood <br />High School athletic events, all special events held at Lakewood and Madison Parks <br />and the Civic Auditorium as well as many other civic functions, and <br /> WHEREAS, during city-wide emergencies, members of the Lakewood Auxiliary <br />Police respond without fail for duty assignment as evidenced by the nearly 300 <br />Auxiliary Police manhonrs contributed in assisting during the weekend of July 4, <br />1969 when the City suffered severe damage as a result of a violent windstorm, and <br /> WHEREAS, the members of this voluntary organization contributed a total <br /> of 8,212 hours in assistance to the Lakewood Police Department in 1975 averaging <br /> in excess of 300 hours per man, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such 25 years of public service by members of the Lakewood <br /> Auxiliary Police is deserving of appropriate recognition and appreciation; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That this Council extends to the Lakewood Auxiliary Police <br /> Unit, in honor and recognition of its 25th anniversary, its appreciation and the <br /> appreciation of all the citizens of this community for its years of dedicated <br /> public service and outstanding contribution to the safety and welfare of the <br /> citizens of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br /> and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Lakewood <br /> Auxiliary Police Unit, c/o John Warner, Major, 1199 Ethel Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio <br /> 44107, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread/~on the minutes of this meeting. <br /> Adopted: ~' /fr ?
