RESOLUTION NO. 5251 BY: <br /> <br />Messrs. Chinnock, Magnotto, McBride, <br />Salmon, Sinagra, Usher, Brockman <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION in honor and memory of the late Loren W. Morlan and <br />expressing deepest sympathy to his family. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is with deep regret that this Council has learned of the <br />death of Loren W. Morlan who passed away on the 30th day of September, 1977. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Loren W. Morlan was first employed by the City of Lakewood <br />on March 18, 1940 as a utility man Jn the Water Department and subsequently <br />was promoted to chief cler]< on ,T:.~ur~ry 1, 1.945 and promoted to ~uperJntendent <br />on August 1, 1954, in which capacity tie served until his retirement on July <br />1, 1968, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Loren W. Morlan contributed substantially to the operation <br />of the Water Department during his more than 28 years of employment with the <br />City, particularly in setting up a new bookkeeping system which was used for <br />many years by the department, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during his tenure with the City of Lakewood Loren W. Morlan <br />was recognized not only as an extremely loyal, hard working and dedicated <br />employee but also a deeply religious and honest man who earned the admiration <br />and respect of all those who came in contact with him, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Loren W. Morlan's active participation in church activities, <br />particularly in connection with Cove Methodist Church, for whlch he served on <br />the Board of Directors, is evidence of his continued desire to render outstanding <br />service, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such devotion and dedication should be recognized and memoral- <br />ized in a proper and fitting manner; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Lakewood City Council honors the memory of Loren W. <br />Morlan and extends to his family its deepest sympathy and its appreciation on <br />behalf of all citizens of the City of Lakewood for his years of devoted public <br />service to the community. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Councll be and she is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Mr. Morian's <br />daughter, Jean M. Moore, 260 Forest Street, Oberlin, Ohio 44070 and that a copy <br />of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approved :~~/~ / ~7 <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
