RESOLUTION NO. 5291 BY: Messrs. Salmon, Usher, Brockman, Brown, Magnotto, McBride A RESOLUTION to commend the St. Edward High School Eagles Wrestling %eam for its outstanding athletic achievement during the 1978 Wrestling season. W-HFALEAS, the St. Edward High School Eagles Wrestling team, for the first time in its history, was the undisputed Class AAA State Champion, and WHEREAS, the Eagles of St. Edwards, rare popularly known as "The Big Green Machine," were undefeated in every tournament entered -- Columbus-Watterson, Brecksville, Columbus DeSales, Ohio Catholic Championship, the Sectionals, District, and State, and WHEREAS, the St. Edward Eagles won a combined total of 38 of 40 final round individual matches in the Brecksville Tournament, the Ohio Catholic Championship, the Sectional, District, and State Contests, and WHEREAS, by these outstanding accomplishments, the St. Edward High School Wrestling team has brought due recognition and honor not only to themselves but to the entire Lakewood corffmmity, which accomplishments should be recognized in a proper end fitting manner; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Lakewood City Council extends its congratulations and conmends the St. Edward High School Eagles Wrestling team for its outstanding athletic achievement during the 1978 high school Wrestling season. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the St. Edward High School Wrestling team, in care of Mr. Howard Ferguson, head Wrestling coach, St. Edward High School, 13500 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio, 44107, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
