RESOLUTION NO. 5404 BY: Chinnock, McBride, McNally, Salmon, Wendling, Brockman,Brow~ A RESOLUTION urging certain State officials Df the State of Ohio to adopt legislation to place on the NovembeE, 1979 General Election Ballot a Constitutional Amendment to remove the inequitable tax burden presently placed on residential real property tax payers. WHEREAS, the current formula for applying HoUse Bill 920 real property tax credits is overly burdensome and totally ~nequitable to home- owners, and WHEREAS, such formula for applying tax credits discriminates against the homeowner and, unless removed, may lead tola "Proposition 13" backlash, and WHEREAS, this Council desires to express to the appropriate officials of the State of Ohio its concern that the present unfair system of applying tax credits should be removed by the legislative process as ex- peditiously as possible; now, therefore, OHIO: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF:LAKEWOOD, STATE OF Section 1~ That the Council of the City of ~akewood, for and on behal~ of the citizens of the City of Lakewood, stronglly urges the legislators of the Stateof Ohio to allow, by legislation, the citizens of the State of Ohio to vote on a Constitutional Amendment to remove t~e present system of the method of assessment of real property' at the General Election to be held in November, 1979. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward certified copies of this Resolultion to Governor James Rhodes, Lt. Governor George Voinovich, the Presidlent and Minority Leader of the Ohio Senate, and the Speaker and the Minority Lelader of the Ohio House of Representatives and to all elected State legislatorsl from Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
