RESOLUTION NO. 5404 <br /> <br />BY: Chinnock, McBride, McNally, <br /> Salmon, Wendling, Brockman,Brow~ <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION urging certain State officials Df the State of Ohio <br />to adopt legislation to place on the NovembeE, 1979 General Election Ballot <br />a Constitutional Amendment to remove the inequitable tax burden presently <br />placed on residential real property tax payers. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the current formula for applying HoUse Bill 920 real <br />property tax credits is overly burdensome and totally ~nequitable to home- <br />owners, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such formula for applying tax credits discriminates <br />against the homeowner and, unless removed, may lead tola "Proposition 13" <br />backlash, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council desires to express to the appropriate <br />officials of the State of Ohio its concern that the present unfair system of <br />applying tax credits should be removed by the legislative process as ex- <br />peditiously as possible; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF:LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1~ That the Council of the City of ~akewood, for and on <br />behal~ of the citizens of the City of Lakewood, stronglly urges the legislators <br />of the Stateof Ohio to allow, by legislation, the citizens of the State of <br />Ohio to vote on a Constitutional Amendment to remove t~e present system of the method <br />of assessment of real property' at the General Election to be held in <br />November, 1979. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward certified copies of this Resolultion to Governor <br />James Rhodes, Lt. Governor George Voinovich, the Presidlent and Minority Leader <br />of the Ohio Senate, and the Speaker and the Minority Lelader of the Ohio House <br />of Representatives and to all elected State legislatorsl from Cuyahoga County, <br />Ohio. <br />Adopted:/s~z- /~,/~y~ <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br /> <br />
