RESOLUTION NO. 5405 <br /> <br />BYI: Brown, Chinnock, McBride,Salmon <br /> McNally, Wendling, Brockman <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION urging certain officials of the State of Ohio to <br />support legislation to place a one year moratorium onlthe reappraisal of <br />residential and business property values. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, unless a moratorium is established~ the formula for <br />applying House Bill 920 credits will create an inequitable and unjust tax <br />burden upon residential tax payers, particularly those on fixed incomes, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Ohio has the authority to place a one year <br />moratorium on the revaluation of residential and business property values <br />and ' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a one year moratorium on such reappraisal will allow the <br />legislators of the State of Ohio to consider tax reform to eliminate the <br />disparity between the appreciation of value between residential and business <br />property, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council desires to express to the appropriate <br />officials of the State of Ohio its concern for the inelquitable and absolutely <br />unjust burden the present law places upon residential 'tax payers; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFI LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of ~akewood for and on <br />behalf of the citizens of the City of Lakewood and particularly those persons <br />on fixed income, strongly urges the appropriate officials of the State of Ohio <br />to support legislation to place a one year moratorium ~n the reappraisal of <br />residential and business property values. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be andlshe is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward certified copies of this ResolUtion to Governor <br />James Rhodes, Lt. Governor George Voinovich, State Taxi Equalization Commissioner <br />Robert Kinney, the President and Minority Leader of the Ohio Senate and <br />the Speaker and the Minority Leader of the Ohio House Of Representatives and <br />t° all ilected State legislat°rs fr°m Cuyah°ga C~'ty"Ohi°' ~/~j · <br /> <br /> <br />
