RESOLUTION NO. 5417 <br /> <br />BY: Salmon, Wendling, Brockman, Brown, <br /> Chinn~ck, McBride, McNally <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION expressing the support of this Council <br />and urging the Ohio Senate F~nance Committee to recommend the appropriation <br />of the necessary funds which have been requested by Governor Rhodes and <br />approved by the Ohi-o House of Representatives for Lakewood Park Lakefront <br />Improvements; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this municipalitiy has long sought federal and state <br />funds to rehabilitate the breakwall at Lakewood Park, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funds are necessary in order to protect the shoreline <br />from further erosion and abate pollution, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the construction of a breakwall would abate pollution <br />and further shoreline erosion, as well as provide a recreational facility <br />for elderly residents as well as fishing enthusiasts Of all ages, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, without said assistance this municipality would be <br />unable to repair the breakwall at Lakewood Park, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the public health, Safety and welfare and <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OE LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City oflLakewood hereby <br /> urges the Finance Committee of the Ohio Senate to favorabls recommend the <br /> appropriation of $975,000 for Lakewood Park LakefrontlImprovements <br /> recommended by Govern, or Rhodes and his capital improvement budget <br /> and approved by the Ohio House of Representatives. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br /> and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Harry <br /> Meshel, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the OhiolSenate and to <br /> Mr. Oliver Ocasek, President of the Ohio Senate~ <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an <br /> emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided <br /> it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of alllmembers elected to <br /> Council, it shall take effect and be in force immedia~cely upon its adoption <br /> and approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> / Clerk ~ <br /> gPPr°ved :~~ ~ ~~ ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
