RESOLO~ION NO. 5486 BY: BrOwn, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham. McBride, Salmon. Wemdling A RESOLUTION extending congratulations to Diane ,Schilling on being selected to receive the Jesse Owens Award for Spo=tsmanship by the Boy Scouts of America. WHEREAS, Diane Schilling, a resident of the Cityi of Lakewood and a student at Lakewood High School, achieved the high honor and distinction of being among the first six athletes to receive the Jeslse Owens Award for Sportsmanship by the Boy Scouts of America, and WHEREAS, the Jesse Owens Award for Sportsmanshi~ is given to those individuals who exemplify the ideals of goodsportsmans~ip and the spirit of the 1936 Olympian from Ohio State University, Jesse Owens, and WHEREAS, Diane Schilling from. Explorer Ship 660,! was so honored for assisting a fallen opponent during a cycling race atl the National Explorer Olympics in Fort Collins, Colorado in which m~re than 2,000 young people from thirty-four states competed, and WHEREAS, this Council wishes to join with her ma~y friends and acquaintances in extending to Diane Schilling its heartiest congratulations and that of all of the citizens of this community upon achieving this very special honor; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAI~EWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council extends to Diane Slchilling its heartiest congratulations, and that of all of the citizens of this community, on being selected to receive the Jesse Owens Award for ~portsmanship by the Boy Scouts of America and wishes her continued years of:happiness and SnCCeSS. Section 2.
