RESOLUTION N0. 5658 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend J. Howard Childs for his public service as <br /> City Engineer of the City of Lakewood. <br /> WHEREAS, upon his retirement effective March 5, 1982, J. Howard <br /> Childs will have completed four years of service as City Engineer of the City <br /> of Lakewood, having previously served four years as City Engineer of the City <br /> of North Olmsted and thirty years as an engineer at the Lewis Research Center, <br /> Cleveland, Ohio, and <br /> WHEREAS, during the tenure of Mr. Childs, the City has received in <br /> excess of $14 million in Environmental Protection Agency grants for the <br /> upgrading of the City's wastewater treatment facilities; eight major storm <br /> relief sewer projects have been designed of which three are already completed; <br /> four major arterial street resurfacing projects have been completed, with over <br /> thirty residential streets resurfaced, and <br /> WHEREAS, through his personal warmth and genuine interest in his <br /> chosen profession, Mr. Childs has won the respect and affection of his fellow <br /> City employees and all those who came into contact with him and the office of <br /> the City Engineer has achieved an enviable record of performance, service, and <br /> respect under his leadership and direction, and <br /> WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the dedicated public service <br /> rendered by J. Howard Childs as City Engineer of the City of Lakewood be given <br /> public cognizance and recognition; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That this Council extends to Mr. J. Howard Childs its <br /> appreciation and that of all of the citizens of this community for his four <br /> <br /> years of distinguished public service to the City of Lakewood as City Engineer <br /> and further that this Council wishes him continued years of health, fiappiness, <br /> and prosperity in his retirement. <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br /> and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Mr. J.
