<br /> RESOLUTION N0. 5774-83 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> A.RESOLUTION extending congratulations to native Lakewoodite Richard <br /> F. Celeste on his election as the 64th Governor of the State of Ohio. <br /> WHEREAS, Richard F. Celeste was born in Lakewood, Ohio on November 11, <br /> 1937, was raised in Lakewood, and attended Madison Elementary School and Harding <br /> Middle School prior to graduating from Lakewood Nigh School in 1955, and <br /> WHEREAS, as a student at Lakewood High, Richard F. Celeste, more affec- <br /> tionately known as "Dick," was president of his senior class, editor-in-chief of <br /> the school year book "Cinema," president of the Hi-Y, active in senior A Cappella, <br /> Barnstormers, and the National Honor Society in addition to participating in J.V. <br /> Football, and <br /> WHEREAS, following his graduation from Yale University in 1959, Governor <br /> Celeste taught for one year as a Carnegie Teaching Fellow and in 1961 was selected <br /> Ohio`s Rhodes Scholar attending Oxford University in England, and <br /> WHEREAS, Dick's political career began in 1970 when he was elected to <br /> the first of two terms to the Ohio House of Representatives, was subsequently <br /> elected Lt. Governor of Ohio in 1974 and in 1979 appointed as Director of the <br /> Peace Corps by then President, Jimmy Carter, and <br /> WHEREAS, with his election as Ohio`s 64th Governor on November 4, 1982, <br /> Richard F. Celeste has brought great honor and distinction to the City of Lakewood <br /> and all of its citizens, and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration of the City of Lakewood <br /> wish to join with his many friends and acquaintences in congratulating Governor <br /> Richard F. Celeste upon his election to the State's highest office and. to give <br /> due recognition to his outstanding. accomplishments; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Administration of the City of <br /> Lakewood extend to Richard F. Celeste their heartiest congratulations upon his <br /> election as the 64th Governor of the State of Ohio and wish him continued years <br /> of success, prosperity, health, and happiness. <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br /> and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Governor .Richard <br /> F. Celeste, and that a copy of this.
