RESOLUTION N0.5784-83 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling A RESOLUTION urging the support of Governor Richard F. Celeste, the Office of Budget and Management, the State Controlling Board and the appropriate elected representatives to the Ohio General Assembly for the City of Lakewood- Lakewood Park Breakwall Project and the release of the balance of capital improvement funds for said project at the earliest possible time. WHEREAS, there is currently pending before the Ohio General Assembly, House Bill No. 369 which appropriates $10,000,000 on delayed capital improvements of which the Lakewood Park Breakwall Project is one of the improvements to be considered, and WHEREAS, independent analysis has documented that Lakewood Park is re- ceiving twice as many visitors as any other suburban lakefront park, while at the same time the park is experiencing tremendous land loss due to high lake levels and the erosion process, and WHEREAS, last year the City of Lakewood received an appropriation of $726,000 in order to construct a breakwall for the protection of Lakewood Park which breakwall cannot now be completed with the monies available, and WHEREAS, it is of extreme importance that the Lakewood Park Breakwall Project receive the highest priority possible in order to preserve for the residents of the City of Lakewood and adjacent communities one of the most precious and well utilized recreation areas in the State of Ohio; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood strongly urges Ohio Governor Richard F. Celeste, the Office of Budget and Management of the State of Ohio, the Ohio State Controlling Board and the elected representatives to the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives from the Lakewood area to support the Lakewood Park Breakwall Project of the City of Lakewood and the release of the balance of the capital improvement funds for said project at the earliest possible time. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Governor Richard F. Celeste, State Senator Charles L. Butts, State Representative Francine M. Panehal, Chris Sale, Director of the Office of Budget and Management, and L. Lee Walker, President of the Controlling Board of the State of Ohio.
