RESOUTION N0. 579P_83 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> A RESOLUTION urging the Governor of the State of Ohio and the Ohio Gen- <br /> eral Assembly to support the adoption of legislation to regulate Urgent Health <br /> Care Centers. <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Ohio is currently experiencing a rapid growth <br /> of Urgent Health Care Centers as evidenced by a market survey which showed more <br /> than 50 Urgent Health Care Centers and Ambulatory Surgery Centers have been built <br /> or announced in the greater Cleveland area within an 18 months period, and <br /> WHEREAS, there are currently no provisions in the Ohio Revised Code <br /> directed to the regulation and/or control of Urgent Health Care Centers, and <br /> WHEREAS, the rapid growth of such health care facilities without State <br /> regulation has become a concern to State medical officials, and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is of the opinion that State regulation of Urgent <br /> Health Care Centers is in the best interest of all residents of the State of <br /> Ohio; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood strongly urges <br /> Ohio Governor, Richard F. Celeste, and the Ohio General Assembly to support the <br /> adoption of legislation to regulate Urgent Health Care Centers. <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br /> and directed to foward certified copies of this Resolution to Governor Richard <br /> F. Celeste; Senator Harry Meshel, President of the Ohio Senate; Representative <br /> Vern Riffe, Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives; State Senator Charles <br /> L. Butts; and State Representative Francine M.
