WHEREAS, Pres dent Reagan has signed a Joint Congressional Resolution designating February 1986 as National Community College Month, and ~ i WHEREAS, Cuya oga Community College, the first and largest community college in Ohi , serves over 24,H0p students per quarter and over 44,9WW students nnually at its three campuses in Parma, Warrensville Township an downtown Cleveland, and WHEREAS, com unity colleges like Cuyahoga Community College, which has serve over 4GJ0,OU0 Greater Cleveland residents in accredited courses sin e it opened in the Fall of 1963, provide an opportunity to obtain a ost-secondary education at low cost for many people who could not oth rwise afford one, and WHEREAS, comm pity colleges play a vital role in today's economic cultural and so ial development, while offering excellence as well as opportunity in education and fit the needs of their local population including the residents of the City of Lakewood; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED Y THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council joins with the Congress of the United States in design ting February 1986 as "National Community College Month" and the M yor is authorized and requested to issue a Proclamation calling upon the citizens of Lakewood, Ohio, to observe such month with appropxia e ceremonies and activities.
