i~ <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 6058-86 By: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> A RESOLUTION expreslsing to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio <br /> <br /> the opposition of the Council of the City of Lakewood to the application <br /> filed by the East Ohio GaslCompany for an increase in natural gas rates <br /> (Formal Case No. 86-297-GA-AI(2). <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines that there is a need to protect <br /> the residents of the City oflLakewood and the City Government itself against <br /> an increase in rates which the East Ohio Gas Company is seeking by virtue of <br /> an application filed with t{he Public Utilities Commission of Ohio under <br /> Formal Case No. 86-297-GA-AIRY and <br /> WHEREAS, the East Ohio Gas Company, which. is requesting an increase <br /> in rates of $68.2 million, i$ the principal supplier of natural gas service <br /> in the City of Lakewood, Ohioy and <br /> WHEREAS, the approx)mate 5.8 per cent rate increase being requested <br /> by the East Ohio Gas Companyiwill have an adverse effect upon those persons <br /> living on low and/or fixed imcomes and the elderly, who will be hard pressed <br /> to come up with the extra money to pay for the proposed 7.5 per cent increase <br /> in the average residential bill, and <br /> WHEREAS, this Counclil wishes to make known to the members of the <br /> PUCO its concern over the 5.8~per cent rate increase being sought by the East <br /> Ohio Gas Company and its opposition to said application (Formal Case No. <br /> 86-297-GA-AIR); now> therefor@, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY ITHE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That thus Council, for and on behalf of the residents <br /> of the City of Lakewood, hereby expresses to the members of the Public <br /> Utilities Commission of Ohio ilts concern over the $68.2 million, 5.8 per cent <br /> rate increase being requested by the East Ohio Gas Company and urges the <br /> Commission to oppose said application (Formal Case No. 86-297-GA-AIR). <br /> Section 2.
