~ <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 6064-86 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> A RESOLUTION expressing the support of the Council of the City of <br /> <br /> Lakewood, Ohio, for "FLY YOUR PRIDE" DAY on Saturday, May 31, 1986. <br /> WHEREAS, for more than a century our Flag has been a banner of hope <br /> <br /> for generation after generation of Americans, and <br /> WHEREAS, born amidithe first flames of America's fight for freedom, <br /> it is the symbol of a country that has grown from a group of thirteen <br /> <br /> colonies to a united nation of fifty sovereign states: an inspiration to <br /> untold millions, and <br /> WHEREAS, beginning ion Saturday, May 31, 1986, Lakewood Seniors and <br /> Lakewood Youths--in tandem--and in the eternal spirit of Lady Liberty's 100th <br /> Birthday, will visit Lakewood homes making available a complete flag kit <br /> including a 3' x 5' flagpole ;and holder, and <br /> WHEREAS, the proceeds of this worthy project. are to benefit three <br /> <br /> of Lakewood's non-proprietary child day care centers: Lakewood Community Care <br /> Center, Lakewood YMCA After-School Program and Harrison Cares, and <br /> WHEREAS, this project has received the support of numerous civic <br /> and community-based organizations, including but not limited to: the Lakewood <br /> <br /> Office on Aging, Barton Center, Lakewood YMCA, Lakewood Boy Scouts, Lakewood <br /> Chamber of Commerce, etc., and <br /> WHEREAS, this Counciil desires that it be known to the residents of <br /> the City of Lakewood that itisupports and recognizes this worthy cause, now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY iTHE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That this Council for and on behalf of the residents of <br /> the City of Lakewood hereby expresses its support for the demonstrated <br /> generosity of our citizens to support the unselfish efforts of the "FLY YOUR <br /> PRIDE" program. <br /> Section 2.
