RESOLUTION NO. 6172-87 BY: Brown, Graham, McBride, <br /> Salmon, Wendling <br /> A RESOLUTION urging Cox Cable to exercise greater care <br /> in terms of the content of its programming, in particular in <br /> its basic package, so that the well being of the viewing <br /> audience, which includes many young impressionable children, <br /> is appropriately taken into account. <br /> WHEREAS, C.A.T.V. has been granted a franchise to <br /> operate Cable T.V. in the City of Lakewood; and <br /> WHEREAS, there are a number of types of programs which <br /> are included in the basic package which all subscribers must <br /> take if they choose to subscribe to Cable T.V.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood is a family oriented community in <br /> which there are many young and impressionable viewers; and <br /> WHEREAS, certain types of programs are inappropriate fox <br /> viewing by young viewers and should not be included among the <br /> programming content of the basic package. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OH10: <br /> The City Council of Lakewood does hereby find that it is <br /> not in the best interest of the City that programming on <br /> cable T.V. contain inappropriate nudity, suggestiveness, and <br /> vulgar language as part of the basic cable package since such <br /> programming is really viewable by impressionable children <br /> without the benefit of parental supervision; and <br /> That Lakewood City Council urges the management of Cox <br /> Cable to exercise greater care in terms of the content of its <br /> <br /> ' programming, in particular in its basic package, so th <br /> well being of the viewing audience, which includes young <br /> impressionable children, is appropriat en o ac ount. <br /> Adopted: 0 <br /> S DENT <br /> CLERK <br /> Approved: ~ 7 MA OR <br /> <br />
