<br /> RESOLUTION NO. 6300^88 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br /> Gazzana, George, Graham <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Mayor, <br /> ex-officio Director of Public Safety, to advertise for bids for the <br /> purchase of up to seven new motor vehicles for the Division of Police, <br /> Department of Public Safety. <br /> WHEREAS, present motor vehicles in the Division of Police <br /> are of such age and condition as to require continual repair resulting <br /> in extended periods of time when they are not available for use <br /> because of such needed repair, with some vehicles having odometer <br /> readings approaching 70,000 miles, and <br /> WHEREAS, the current motor vehicles fail to provide a degree <br /> of reliability, are no longer cost efficient to maintain, and should <br /> be replaced with new motor vehicles, and <br /> WHEREAS, this Resolution constitutes an emergency measure in <br /> that it provides for the immediate preservation of the public safety <br /> and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal <br /> department; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor, ex-officio Director of Public <br /> Safety, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for <br /> bids for the purchase of up to seven motor vehicles including related <br /> equipment. <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal <br /> actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br /> ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br /> all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br /> that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br /> public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> Section 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br /> emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and <br /> provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br /> elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br /> upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take <br /> effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law. <br /> Adopted: ~1G0'(.tk~~ 7~~ ~.~tel`rtiM.~~~1 <br /> PRESIDENT <br /> CLERK <br /> Approved; , <br /> ~ N` YOR <br /> <br />
