RESOLUTION NO. 6)$5-8~) <br /> <br />BY= Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br /> Gazzana, George, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION appealing to the Hazardous <br />Waste Facility Board to review the GSX plant, located on Bessemer <br />Drive in Cleveland, Ohio, in consideration of the public health <br />and safety of the residents of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is located between 8 and <br />10 miles from the proposed GSX plant, well within the travelling <br />distance of the incineratorls fugitive emissions, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is important that the City protect its <br />residents from air pollution to'-ensure their well-being and <br />safety, and ' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, to assure a pollution-free environment, it is <br />necessary to control toxic emissions and neutralize hazardous <br />waste, and '~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the City's interest that GSX issue <br />certain assurances that it produces no hazardous wastes and <br />pollution; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEW00D, STATE <br />OF 0HIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the City of Lakewood appeals to the <br />Hazardous Waste Facility Board to do the following: review the <br />GSX plant pursuant to the hazardous waste rules set forth in the <br />Ohio Revised Code Section 3754.05(D)(6), particularly in regard <br />to the nature and volume of the waste to be treated, stored, or <br />disposed of at the facility; to make a determination as <br />whether or not the facility represents any adverse environmental <br />impact; and to insure that the conditions as described be <br />continually monitored through periodic inspections and review. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized to forward a certified copy of this Resolution <br />to Richard C, Sahli, Deputy Director, Legal and Governmental <br />Affairs for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency; Charles E. <br />Mauger, Assistant Director, Ohi, o Department of Natural Resources; <br />Warren W. Tyler, Chairman, Ohio Water Development AuthOrity; Dr. <br />Thomas L. 5weeney, Assistant Vice President for Research and <br />Graduate Studies at Ohio State Unlversity; and Dr. N.B. Clapham, <br />Jr., Associate Professor of Geological Sciences, Cleveland State <br />University; and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the <br />minutes of th~s meeting. <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br /> <br />
