RESOLUTION NO. 6360-89 <br /> <br />BY: CHINNOCK, Gallagher, Gazzana, <br /> George, Graham, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION commemorating April 22, <br />Lakewood Earth Day in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br />1989, as <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Saturday, April 22, 1989, has been declared Earth <br />Appreciation Day, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we take this opportunity to <br />remember our dependence on our planet and its natural elements and <br />environment for the sustenance of our very lives, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all citizens should be concerned with the <br />preservation of the environment of our planet and remember our role in <br />replenishing its natural resourses, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the interest of all our citizens and the <br />preservation of our health, safety and welfare that we acknowledge our <br />dependence and reliance on the Earth and its natural systems; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Saturday, April 22, <br />declared and commemorated as Lakewood Earth Day. <br /> <br />1989, is hereby <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor and this Council urge all <br />citizens to take an active part in the preservation of our environment <br />by renewed dedication to the renewal of our natural resources and by <br />joining in the commemoration of April 22, 1989, as.Lakewood Earth Day. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br />elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take <br />effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />PR~rS I DENT ' <br /> <br />CLERK <br /> <br /> <br />
