RESOLUTION NO. 6475-90 <br /> <br /> BY:Boscia, Gallagher, <br />Gazzana, George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION urging appropriate representatives <br />to the Congress of the United States as well as the United States Army <br />Corps of Engineers to study the Lake Erie shore erosion problem in the <br />City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been several years since the last study was <br />conducted by the federal government on the effects on our community of <br />Lake Erie shore erosion, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, evidence within our own community as well as the <br />experiences of other communities suggests that the shore erosion <br />problem is continuing to worsen, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the federal government and specifically, the United <br />States Army Corps of Engineers is in a unique position to study, <br />review and offer possible solutions for said erosion problems, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the health, safety and welfare of all citizens of our <br />community; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council, for and on behalf of all <br />citizens of the City of Lakewood, strongly urges the United States <br />Army Corps of Engineers to immediately conduct a study and survey of <br />Lake Erie shore erosion problems in the City of Lakewood, and that <br />appropriate representatives to the Congress of the United States <br />support and expedite such study and survey. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution <br />to United States Senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum, and to <br />United States Representatives Edward Feighan and Mary Rose Oakar, and <br />to appropriate officials of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br />elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its adoption and <br />effect and be in force <br /> <br />Adopted: ~ <br /> -/ <br /> <br />a.Pa~atlhbeYetarh~ Mayor; otherwise, ~ take <br /> CLERK ~' ~ <br /> <br />Appr°ved,~~ ~/~ /~(Q <br /> <br /> <br />
