RESOLUTION NO. 6490-90 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />Gazzana, George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION honoring Ralph D. Delaney, a teacher and social <br />worker, for his more than 29 years of dedicated service to the poor; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ralph D. Delaney was a founder of the Gandhi-King Peace <br />Center and helped launch the Gandhi-King peace and justice awards; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ralph D. Delaney was a former director of Collinwood <br />Arts Center and worked at the Rainey Institute, participated in the <br />Catholic Worker Movement, was a former Assistant Chaplain at the Cuyahoga <br />County Jail; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ralph D. Delaney, without fear for his life, constantly <br />reached out to the downtrodden giving them hope, living the gospel, <br />serving the needs of the least of his brothers and sisters; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ralph D. Delaney was robbed and severely beaten while <br />delivering food to the needy and subsequently passed away as a result of <br />the injuries he sustained; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in death as in life Ralph D. Delaney will continue to <br />challenge the imagination and conscience of all who care for this greater <br />Cleveland community; <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor of the City of Lakewood and this <br />Council extend to the family of Ralph D. Delaney, our sincere condolences <br />and those of all the citizens of this community on his passing. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to <br />the family of Mr. Ralph D. Delaney in care of Carol A.
