RESOLUTION NO. 649 1-90 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />Gazzana, George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION commending Patrol Officer Thomas F. Shepard for <br />his public service to the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Patrol Officer Thomas F. Shepard was appointed to <br />the Lakewood Police Department on April 16, 1964, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Patrol Officer Shepard was originally assigned as <br />Traffic and Safety Officer on December 15, 1967, and as such was <br />responsible for traffic safety education programs, such as Safety Town <br />and Bike Rodeos, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Officer Shepard served as a member of the Lakewood <br />Safety Council, a Counselor for the Ohio Motorist Association Safety <br />Patrol, was active in various PTA safety education programs, and was <br />the official school tour guide for pupils visiting our Police <br />Department, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Patrol Officer Thomas F. Shepard through his <br />efforts, professional responsibility, leadership, devotion to his <br />community and dedication to his job, brought great credit to himself, <br />our Police Department and our community, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through his personal warmth and genuine interest in <br />the programs he supervised and the young people of our community, <br />Patrol Officer Shepard has won the respect and affection of all <br />members of our community, especially Lakewood school students, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under his leadership, our safety education programs <br />have been a model for others to follow, have been enthusiastically <br />supported by our schools and our young people, and have probably made <br />Patrol Officer Shepard the most recognized and popular Officer with <br />Lakewood's outstanding Police Department, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Patrol Officer Thomas F. Shepard has <br />effective April 21, 1990, and in consideration of the <br />recognize such outstanding public service; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> retired <br />need to <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor extend to Patrol <br />Officer Thomas F. Shepard their appreciation and that of the citizens <br />of this community for his more than 26 years of distinguished public <br />service to the City of Lakewood and further that they wish him <br />continued years of success, health and prosperity. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution <br />to Patrol Officer Thomas F.
