RESOLUTION NO. 6493-90 BY: Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, George, Graham, Roth, Smith AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION designating and proclaiming the week of May 19-26, 1990, as Public Works Week in the City of Lakewood. WHEREAS, public works services provided in our community are an integral part of our citizens' everyday lives; and WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is vital to the efficient operation of public works systems and programs such as water, sewers, streets, public buildings and parks, solid waste collection, and snow removal; and WHEREAS, the health, safety and comfort of this community greatly depends on these facilities and services; and WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning, design, and construction, is vitally dependent upon the efforts and skill of public works officials; and WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel who staff public works departments is materially influenced by the people's atti- tude and understanding of the importance of the work they perform, and WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure providing for the health, safety and welfare of all citizens of our community; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor support the goals of Public Works Week and designate and proclaim May 19-26, 1990, as Public Works Week in the City of Lakewood. Section 2. That this Council and the Mayor call upon the community during this week to become acquainted with the problems involved in providing our public works and to recognize the contributions which public works officials make every day to our health, safety, and comfort. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. Section 4. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an emer- gency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall earliest period allowed by law.
