RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6493-90 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, <br /> George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION designating and proclaiming the week of <br />May 19-26, 1990, as Public Works Week in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, public works services provided in our community are an <br />integral part of our citizens' everyday lives; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is <br />vital to the efficient operation of public works systems and programs such as <br />water, sewers, streets, public buildings and parks, solid waste collection, <br />and snow removal; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the health, safety and comfort of this community greatly <br />depends on these facilities and services; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well <br />as their planning, design, and construction, is vitally dependent upon the <br />efforts and skill of public works officials; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel who <br />staff public works departments is materially influenced by the people's atti- <br />tude and understanding of the importance of the work they perform, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the health, safety and welfare of all citizens of our community; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor support the goals of <br />Public Works Week and designate and proclaim May 19-26, 1990, as Public Works <br />Week in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this Council and the Mayor call upon the community <br />during this week to become acquainted with the problems involved in providing <br />our public works and to recognize the contributions which public works <br />officials make every day to our health, safety, and comfort. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of <br />this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were <br />adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations <br />of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal <br />action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal <br />requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an emer- <br />gency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, <br />it shall take effect and be in force <br />by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall <br />earliest period allowed by law. <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />i~am~ediately upon its adoption and~vale <br /> <br /> <br />
