RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6520-90 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, <br /> George, Graham, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION supporting the passage at the <br />November 6, 1990, General Election of the 8.9 Mil operating levy for <br />the Lakewood School District and urging support of such levy by all <br />Lakewood citizens. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood of Education determined that it was <br />necessary to place an 8.9 Mil operating levy on the ballot for this <br />November to maintain the outstanding quality of education in our <br />community and continue the high standards of Lakewood Schools', and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, our children are our most precious resource and are <br />the very future of our City, State and nation, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, quality education is essential for all of our <br />citizens and contributes significantly to the quality of life enjoyed <br />by us all, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Schools have consistently provided <br />outstanding educational opportunities for all our young people and <br />their progressive and comprehensive programs have been models for <br />other communities in this area and around the nation, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this is a time for our community to move forward <br />and to continue to provide the best possible quality of life for all <br />our citizens and to ensure the high educational standards of our <br />public schools are maintained, expanded and improved, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, <br />and welfare; now, therefore, <br /> <br />measure <br /> safety <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor pledge their <br />support to the 8.9 Mil operating levy for our Lakewood Schools to be <br />voted on at the November 6th General Election, and urge all citizens <br />of Lakewood to support the passage of that levy to maintain and <br />improve our great school system and the fantastic educational <br />opportunities our children now enjoy. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and and directed to forward certified copies of this <br />Resolution to Dr. Daniel Kalish, Superintendent of Lakewood Schools, <br />1470 Warren Road, Lakewood, Ohio 44107; The Plain Dealer; Lakewood <br />Sun Post; and WestLife, and such other media, civic groups, <br />organizations and other entities'or persons as the Mayor or members of <br />Council may request. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
