RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6532-90 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION designating and <br />November 25 - December 1, 1990 as <br />the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> proclaiming the week of <br />Winter Safety Week in <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, over the past years Ohio has experienced many <br />snow emergencies wherein the blizzard of 1978 left 66 dead and <br />millions of dollars in damage in its wake and other snow <br />emergencies throughout this period and subsequent periods cost <br />another 87 Ohioans their lives; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many people <br />because they do not heed or are <br />that might save their lives. <br /> <br />die needlessly each winter <br />not aware of safety precautions <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, community awareness, preparedness and <br />planning for such threats of blizzards, ice and snow storms can <br />result in the saving of lives and prevention of injury, <br />particularly among special populations such as senior citizens, <br />the handicapped, indigent and homeless; and <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor support the <br />goals of Winter Safety Week and designate and proclaim November <br />25 - December 1, 1990 as Winter Safety Week in Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this Council and the Mayor urge all <br />the citizens to take meaningful actions in preparing for the real <br />hardships that accompany winter weather and its related <br />phenomena. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of <br />this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings <br />open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4.
