THE JUSTINIAN PUBLISHING COMPANY <br /> <br /> Consulting and Codification <br /> <br />SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR CONTINUAL UPDATING OF <br /> <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCES <br /> <br /> An Agreement dated October 9, 1990, between the Municipality of Lakewood, <br />Ohio (hereinafter called the Municipality) and The Justinian Publishing Company <br />(hereinafter called the Contractor), in consideration of mutually agreed upon promises <br />and conditions set forth herein. <br /> <br />Annually, on the date of the previous updating of the Codified Ordinances, for a <br />period of 5 years from the date of this Agreement, the Contractor shall update <br />the Codified Ordinances (except for the separately published Planning and Zoning <br />Code) by integrating therein all general and permanent legislation of the <br />Municipality and by revising the Traffic and General Offenses Codes of the <br />Codified Ordinances to conform to State law current at the time of such updating <br />of the Codified Ordinances. In providing such services, the Contractor agrees to: <br /> <br />5. <br />6. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />Examine and review all ordinances and resolutions of the Municipality to. <br />ascertain material suitable for inclusion. <br />Evaluate all selected material for provisions which appear to be obsolete' <br />repealed specifically or by implication, ambiguous, vague or inapplicable, or <br />in conflict with State law, Federal law, case law, the Municipal Charter or <br />other ordinance or resolution provisions and refer questions on the same to. <br />the Municipal Legal Officer or other Municipal official for a decision. <br />Edit all legislative material by correcting all spelling, capitalization, <br />grammatical and typographical errors, but the sense, meaning or legal effect <br />of any legislative provision shall not be altered without the express <br />authorization of the Municipal Legal. Officer or other Municipal official. <br />Classify and organize selected material into its proper component code, title, <br />chapter and section position. <br />Prepare proper and descriptive headings for each title, chapter and section. <br />Number all material to conform with the decimal numbering system and <br />code classification. <br />Substitute proper code numbers for in-text references to other provisions in <br />the Codified Ordinances so as to conform with the numbering system. <br />Substitute the words "this code," "this chapter" or "this section" for "this <br />ordinance" whenever the sense requires it. <br /> <br /> <br />
