RESOLUTION NO. 6546-91 <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, <br />George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION urging the state legislators to Support and <br />pass a senate~bill prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages <br />at gasoline stations in the State of Ohio. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the sale of alcoholic beverages at gas stations <br />promotes the deadly connection of drinking and driving, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood cannot directly adopt <br />legislation specifically to curb liquor sales at gasoline <br />stations, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State legislature has recently enacted <br />stringent driving under the influence laws, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood urges our state <br />legislators to support a uniform state law prohibiting the sale of <br />alcoholic beverages at gas stations; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of LakeWood <br />hereby expresses to State Representative Madeline Cain and State <br />Senator Anthony C. Sinagra its concern that they support the <br />passage of an~S. B. which would prohibit the sale of alcoholic <br />beverages at gas stations and other retail establishments that <br />sell gasoline. <br /> <br /> Section 2.~ That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this <br />resolution to Madeline A. Cain, District 8 Representative,and <br />Anthony C.
