RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6567-91 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, <br /> George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION proclaiming March 17-23, 1991, as <br />"Tornado Safety Week" .in the City of Lakewood and urging participation <br />in Tornado Safety Activities. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood joins the Governor of the <br />State of Ohio and the Board of Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in <br />declaring that "Tornado Safety Week", and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is located in an area of the State <br />of Ohio described as "Tornado Alley", wherein the potential hazards of <br />loss of life and injury to persons and property from tornadoes are <br />high; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood urges all residents to be <br />aware of and participate in Tornado Safety Week activities and to <br />become informed about tornado safety; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, community awareness and planning for such threats <br />of tornadoes can result in saving of lives and prevention of injury, <br />particularly among special populations such as school children; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a Tornado Drill Exercise will be conducted on <br />Wednesday, March 20, 1991 at 10:10 A.M. and that such Drill Exercise <br />will be designed for county-wide elementary school and local <br />participation and for testing of the Emergency Broadcasting System; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the City of Lakewood joins with the <br />Governor of Ohio and Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in declaring <br />March 17-23 as "Tornado Safety Week" in the City of Lakewood and <br />supports the county-wide Tornado Drill Exercise that will be conducted <br />on Wednesday, March 20, 1991 at 10:10 A.M. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution <br />to the Cuyahoga Emergency Management Assistance Center (CEMAC), 1255 <br />Euclid Avenue, Room 102, Cleveland, Ohio 44115, and that a copy of <br />this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal actions, were in'meetings open to the <br />public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4.
