RESOLUTION NO. 6616-91 RESOLUTION NO. BY: Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, George, Graham, Roth, Smith BY: A RESOLUTION honoring the memory of Art Sansom, creator of the "Born Loser" comic strip. WHEREAS, for 26 years,prior to his death on July the 4th, 1991, long-time Lakewood resident Art Sansom wrote the award-winning comic strip "Born Loser", and was twice awarded the National Cartoonist Society's highest honor, the Rueben award, and WHEREAS, Mr. Sansom's comic strip appeared in 26 countries and nine languages, considered to be one of the 10 most ~widely distributed comic strips in the world, and WHEREAS, Mr. Sansom touched our hearts by endearing us to a cartoon character with whose insecurity and human frailty we could all relate, and WHEREAS, through his hard work and dedication to his art and by his modest, genial and generous nature, Art Sansom gained the respect, admiration and high regard of his colleagues and friends, and WHEREAS, Mr. Sansom evidenced strong support and devotion to the City of Lakewood by choosing to make Lakewood his home for the past 28 years and by his many civic contributions including membership in the Lakewood High School Sports Booster Club and as an avid and loyal football fan, and WHEREAS, the Council, Mayor and citizens of Lakewood have derived great honor and prestige by Art Sansom's long residence and contributions in this community; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1.
