RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6632-91 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />Gazzana, George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Lieutenant John Hoyt for his <br />heroic actions on September 5, 1991 which resulted in the rescue <br />of a male apparently drowning in the Rocky River. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lt. Hoyt, while passing in the area of Rock <br />Cliff Springs heard cries for help that someone was drowning; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lt. Hoyt approaches the springs where he <br />encountered an adult male wading back to.shore stating he was <br />unable to reach the pers6n; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lt. Hoyt looked, saw the person, then floating <br />face down, sink under water; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lt. Hoy~ swam to Where he saw the person go <br />under, located the person and brought him back to the shore, <br />where the victim began breathing and was than transported to <br />Lakewood hospital; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lt Hoyt's actionS while off duty exemplified <br />the best of what our Police Department stands for by showing the <br />highest degree of courage by risking his life to save another; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor, hereby <br />extend to Lt. John L. Hoyt, its commendation, and that of all the <br />citizens of the Lakewood Community for his heroic efforts on <br />September 5, 1991 at the Rocky River in the Metro Parks. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of <br />this Resolution to Lt. John~L. Ho_y~, 1503 Waterbury, Lakewood, <br />Ohio 44107and that a copy of th~n the <br />minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br /> CLERK <br /> <br /> <br />
