RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6641-91 BY: <br /> <br />Bosaia, Gallagher, George, <br />Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION honoring Virginia Marti, founder of the <br />Virginia Marti College. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the <br />Virginia MartiCollege of Fashion and Art, Greater Cleveland's <br />only private school that focuses on all major facets of the <br />fashion and garment industry, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Virginia Marti attended the' Cleveland <br />Institute'S year apprenticeship in Cleveland and is a graduate of <br />L'Ecole Guere Lavigne, Paris, and established the original <br />Virginia Marti school 25 years ago to fill a need for qualified <br />bridal and women's wear designers, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mrs. Marti raised <br />designing, teaching and administering <br />grandmother of twenty grandchildren, and <br /> <br />eight children while <br />the college and is the <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through Virginia Marti's hard work and <br />dedication to her profession the Virginia Marti College is <br />accredited by the Career College Association and offers associate <br />of applied business degrees in commercial art; fashion design; <br />fashion merchandising; interior design; and a 'certificate program <br />in haute couture dressmaking, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mrs. Marti as a long time Lakewood resident <br />and businesswoman evidenced strong support and devotion to the <br />City of Lakewood by her involvement with the storefront renovation <br />program, and as a participant in the revitalization of Lakewood's <br />gateway area, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council, Mayor and citizens of Lakewood <br />have derived great honor and prestige by' Virginia Marti's <br />contributions to this community; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That we honor Virginia <br />the Virginia Marti College's 25th anniversary. <br /> <br />Marti on <br /> <br /> Section 2.
