RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6644-91 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallaghe~, George, <br /> Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION commending Captain Glen P. Walker for his <br />public service as a member of the Division of Police in the City of <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, upon his retirement, effective June 29, 1991, Glen <br />P. Walker has completed 30 years of public service with the Lakewood <br />Police Department; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Glen Walker began serving the Lakewood Police <br />Department on July 16, 1961; was promoted to Sergeant on January 21, <br />1968; Lieutenant on March 29, 1979; and became Captain of the <br />Division of Traffic and Patrol on June 10, 1979, which rank he held <br />until his retirement; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Lakewood Police <br />Department, Glen Walker has been recognized as a loyal and dedicated <br />employee who rendered outstanding service, not only to the Lakewood <br />Police Department, but to the entire community as well; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Glen Walker, as Captain of the Traffic and Patrol <br />Division had direct responsibility for activities of all Police <br />Officers on the road, as well as School Guards serving the children <br />of our community, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during his service with the Lakewood Police <br />Department, the DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION (D.A.R.E.) Program <br />was instituted in our schools, and this innovative approach to <br />helping keep our youth away from drugs fell under the direct <br />supervision of Captain Glen P. Walker, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the public service <br />rendered by Captain Glen P. Walker be given public cognizance and <br />recognition; now therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor extend to <br />Captain Glen P. Walker its commendation, and that of all the citizens <br />of the Lakewood Community for his 30 years of public service as an <br />employee of the City of Lakewood Police Department, and further that <br />this Council and Mayor wish him continued years of health, happiness <br />and prosperity in his retirement. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this <br />Resolution to Captain Glen P. Walker, 1250 Nicholson Avenue, <br />Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a copy of this Resolution 'ead <br />upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br /> <br />
