RESOLUTION NO. 6669-91 BY: Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, George, Graham, Roth, Smith A RESOLUTION designating and proclaiming the week of November 17 - November 23, 1991 as Winter Safety Week in the City of Lakewood. WHEREAS, over the past years Ohio has experienced many snow emergencies wherein the blizzard of 1978 left 66 dead and millions of dollars in damage in its wake and other snow emergencies throughout this period and subsequent periods cost another 87 Ohioans their lives; and WHEREAS, many people die needlessly each winter because they do not heed or are not aware of safety precautions that might save their lives; and WHEREAS, community awareness, preparedness and planning for such threats of blizzards, ice and snow storms can result in the saving of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special populations such as senior citizens, the handicapped, indigent and homeless; and BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1.
