RESOLUTION NO. 6672-91 BY: <br /> <br />Gallagher, Gazzana, George, <br />Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to honor the~ 1991 St. Ign~us High School Football <br />Team on winning its third Division I State Championship in four yea~. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, special commendation and recognition are once again due <br />to all members of the St. Ignatius V~rsity Football Team and Coach Chuck <br />(Chico) Kyle for ~he~ outstanding performance in~uding their "... very best <br />twenty-fo~ minutes..." which won for them the Title at the Twentieth State <br />Football Championship Game, Fawcett Stadium, Canton, Ohio, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is proud of the accomplishments <br />of these young men and appreciat.~ the recognition they have brought to <br />Northern Ohio,' particularly the Greater Cleveland area, by their talents and <br />sport4mans hip, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, St. Ignatius has brought home the bi~-school state <br />football t~e for the thud year out ~of the past four, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, St. Ignatius High School 1991 Varsity Football Team <br />rallied from a twehty-one to nine halftime deficit to win a "heartstopper" <br />over one of the state's most historically powerful football schools, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ranked elevent~ in the final Associated Press Division <br />I state poll and twelfth in The PLAIN DEALER's final Top Thirty poll, St. <br />Ignatius' 1991 record i~ twelve andtwo, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the team's achievements ~o beyond mere polls as the <br />dire~ result of the sum of each individual team ~members' assets of <br />perseverance, faith in oneself and team, athletic abi~y, persistence and <br />spi~, a~ upon which we congratulate and commend them; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF 0HI0: <br /> <br /> Section I. That this Council and the Mayor extend to the St. <br />Ignati~ High School Football ~Team and Coach Chuck (Chico) Kyle their <br />congratulations and commendation for th~ team's achievement of the title <br />Division I State Champions. <br /> <br /> Se~ion 2.
