RESOLUTION NO. 6711-92 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />George, Gibbons, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION proclaiming March 22-28, 1992 <br />as "Tornado Safety Week" in the City of Lakewood and urging <br />participation in Tornado Safety Activities. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood joins the Governor of the <br />State of Ohio and the Board of Commissioners of Cuyahoga County <br />in declaring "Tornado Safety Week"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is located in an area of the <br />state of Ohio described as Tornado Alley, wherein the potential <br />hazards of loss of life and injury to persons and property from <br />tornados are high; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood urges all residents to be <br />aware of and participate in Tornado Safety Week activities and to <br />become informed about tornado safety; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, community awareness and planning for such <br />threats of tornadoes can result in saving of lives and prevention <br />of injury, particularly among special, populations such as school <br />children; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a Tornado Drill Exercise will be conducted on <br />Wednesday, March 25, 1992 at 10:10 a.m. and that such Drill <br />Exercise specifically be designed for county-wide elementary <br />school and local participation and for testing of the Emergency <br />Broadcasting System and other appropriate components of emergency <br />management; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor join <br />with the Governor of Ohio and Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in <br />declaring March 22-28, 1992 as "Tornado Safety Week" in the City <br />of Lakewood and supports the countywide Tornado Drill Exercise <br />that will be conducted on Wednesday, March 25, 1992 at 10:10 <br />a.m. along with Lakewood's Outdoor Early Warning Alert System. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of <br />this Resolution to the Cuyahoga Emergency Management Assistance <br />Center (CEMAC), 1255 Euclid Avenue, Room 102, Cleveland, OH <br />44115, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the <br />minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of <br />this ResolUtion were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted'in such formal actions, were in meetings <br />open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4.
