Add-on 7/6/92 Docket <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 6743-92 <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br />Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to congratulate the Lakewood Historical <br />Society on-its Fortieth Anniversary. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Historical Society was organized <br /> July 22, 1952, to discover, collect, preserve and extend <br />'knowledge concerning whatever relates to the life, history, <br /> traditions and heritage of Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Society dedicated the Oldest Stone House <br />museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings, ~ <br />April 25, 1953, subsequently stabiliZed the structure and <br />restored the summer kitchen addition, and organized the museum <br />herb garden, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Historical Society organized the <br />Junior Women's Board in January 1964 to provide guided tours of <br />the museum and to aid with children's programs, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, with the support of City Council and the <br />City, the Lakewood Historical Society purchased the Nicholson <br />House in April, 1985 to restore for community use, upon which <br />site the Society's Fortieth Anniversary will be celebrated, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Historical Society has served <br />the community through tours of the museum, special displays for <br /> a~ea schools and libraries, in-school talks, maintenance of a <br /> library and archives, Ohio Heritage summer classes and other <br /> services too voluminous to mention here, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is appropriate to enthusiastically extend <br />congratulations and commendation to the Lakewood HistoriCal <br />Society for the vast service, dedication and enhancement of'the <br />quality of life for all of the City of Lakewood; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1.
