PLACED ON "lst READING " AND <br /> REFERRED TO FINANCE CMTE 9/21/92. <br />Placed on "2nd Reading" on 11/2/92 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6758-92 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Director of Public Works to <br />establish sewer rates for year beginning January 1, 1993. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, sufficient revenues are required to recover costs budgeted <br />for the operation of the Wastewater DiviSion in 1992, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to offset the continuing general increases in cost <br />of operation, it is necessary for the City to increase the rates <br />charged to its consumers, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a special rate for persons qualifying for Homestead exemption <br />has previously been established for sewer charges, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined that extending a 15% reduction for <br />sewer charges to persons qualifying would not greatly effect the <br />revenues for the Wastewater Operating Fund, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 902.04 of the City of Lakewood Codified Ordinances <br />require the Council set a sewer rate sufficient to recover both <br />operating and capital improvement costs for the Wastewater Division; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That it has been determined that the current sewer rate is <br />insufficient to meet requirements that the Wastewater Operating Fund <br />remain a self-supporting enterprise. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to establish sewer rates charged by the <br />Lakewood Division of Water effective January 1, 1993, as follows: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />The minimum charge for the first 1,000 cubic feet or <br />less of water used during each one or three month <br />billing period shall not exceed TEN-DOLLARS AND <br />EIGHTY-TWO-CENTS ($10.82). <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />All water used in excess of 1,000 cubic feet during <br />each one or three month billing period shall cost <br />not more than 108.2¢ per one-hundred cubic feet. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to establish special Homestead Exemption sewer <br />rates charged by the Lakewood Division of Water effective January 1, <br />1993, for all persons qualifying for this exemption as established by <br />Resolution 6182-87, as follows: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />The minimum charge for the first 1,000 cubic feet or <br />less of water used during each one or three month <br />billing period shall not exceed NINE-DOLLARS AND <br />TWENTY-CENTS ($9.20). <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />All water used in excess of 1,000 cubic feet during <br />each one or three month billing period shall cost not <br />more than 92.0¢ per one-hundred cubic feet. <br /> <br /> <br />
