RESOLUTION ~O.6761-92 BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION joining Cuyahoga County Auditor Tim McCormack and the Cuyahoga County Auditor's Senior Advisory Board in support of H.B. 552 as introduced by State Representative C.J. Prentiss recognizing the need to revise the Ohio Energy Credits Program. WHEREAS, The Ohio Energy Credit income limit has never been changed since the program officially began in 1979, and WHEREAS, Twelve years of inflation, escalating medical costs, and social security cost of living increases have outdated current Ohio Energy Credit guidelines so that an average of 24,000 citizens were dropped per year, and WHEREAS, An increase in the Ohio Energy Credit income ceiling would allow an additional 146,700 seniors with incomes between $9,000 and $16,500 to receive energy relief; and WHEREAS, The Ohio Energy Credits Program requires efficient and continuedmaintenance in order to provide sufficient energy relief for Ohio's senior and disabled persons; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the City Council of Lakew~od does hereby officially support Ohio Energy Credit Reform, House Bill 552 and urges Governor George Voinovich, Ohio House Speaker Vern Riffe, Ohio Senate President Stanley Aronoff and the General Assembly to pass House Bill 552 in order to provide sufficient relief for Ohio's senior and disabled citizens. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy this Resolution to George Voinovich, Governor; Vern Riffe, Speaker of the House; Stanley Aronoff, President of th~0hio Senate and each member of the Ohio General ' '~ ~ , ~.1 ~.~ ' . ~ -, .
