RESOLUTION NO. 6773-92 <br /> <br />BY:Boscia, Gallagher, George <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, <br /> Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to honor the Lakewood Christian Service <br />Center for their ten years of service to the City of Lakewood; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood schools, social service agencies, <br />civic organizations, Lakewood Hospital and the City departments <br />of Public Health, Youth, Aging, Building, and Police have all <br />participated in and coordinated with the work of the Center; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, hundreds of individuals, as well as churches, <br />community organizations and businesses, have contributed talents, <br />thousands of volunteer hours and thousands of dollars to support <br />the emergency and on-going self-help Center programs; and <br /> <br />have <br />them <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, thousands of Lakewood individuals and families <br />received crisis assistance and on-going support, helping <br />to be self-sufficient and productive citizens of Lakewood; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Center responses to human need have expanded <br />beyond emergency food distribution to include advocacy with <br />housing, utilities, child care, health care and employment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Center has been celebrating its tenth~ <br />anniversary throughout this. past year through events such as <br />a Sunday recognition by all Lakewood churches of their members <br />who volunteer at the Center; the "Celebrity Birthday Cake" event <br />presented at the Lakewood Home Show; "Sharefest", a carnival <br />event sponsored by individuals, businesses, and organizations to' <br />generate needed emergency food supplies forthe Center; and <br />"Hearts in Action" held at Lakewood Methodist Church; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor extend to <br />the Lakewood Christian Service Center its congratulations and <br />thanks for ten years of service to the community and the <br />completion of a wonderful anniversary year celebration that <br />united Lakewood in new ways. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
