RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6778-92 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION designating and proclaiming the week of <br />November 29 - December 5, 1992 as Winter Safety Week in the City <br />of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, over the past years Ohio has experienced many <br />snow emergencies wherein the blizzard of 1978 left 66 dead and <br />millions of dollars in damage in its wake and other snow <br />emergencies throughout this period and subsequent periods cost <br />another 87 Ohioans their lives; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many people <br />because they do not heed or are <br />that might save their lives; and <br /> <br />die needlessly each winter <br />not aware of safety precautions <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, community awareness, preparedness and planning <br />for such threats of blizzards, ice and snow storms can <br />result in the saving of lives and prevention of injury, <br />particularly among special populations such as senior citizens, <br />the handicapped, indigent and homeless; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a Weather Test will be conducted on Wednesday, <br />December 2, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. and such test exercise shall be <br />specifically designated for Countywide testing of the Emergency <br />Broadcast System and other appropriate components of emergency <br />management; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor support <br />the goals of Winter Safety Week and designate and proclaim' <br />November 29 - December 5, 1992 as Winter Safety Week in Lakewood. <br /> <br />One Building Roo~'--/~~55 <br />5, and that a cg~y ~f ;this ~esolutJ <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of <br />this Resolution to Edwin C.
