RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6789-92 <br /> <br />BY:Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend St. Ignatius High School's <br />Football Team on winning its fourth Division I State <br />Championship in five years. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, special commendation and recognition are <br />due to the members of the St. Ignatius Varsity Football <br />Team, Coach Chuck (Chico) Kyle and the coaching staff for <br />their outstanding performance on December 5, 1992 in <br />capturing the Division I State Title at the Twenty-First <br />State Football Championship Game before a crowd of 13,911 <br />at Fawcett Stadium, Canton, Ohio, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is proud of the <br />accomplishments of these young men and their coaches, <br />which has brought recognition to Northern Ohio, <br />particularly the Greater Cleveland area, through their <br />talents and sportsmanship, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, St. Ignatius has brought home the big-school <br />state football title for the fourth year out of the past <br />five, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, St. Ignatius High School's 1992 Varsity <br />Football Team rallied from a half-time deficit of 14-10 to <br />win with a score of 24-14, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, their 1992 winning streak of 20 games <br />resulted in St. Ignatius being ranked first in the final <br />Associated Press Division I state poll, the PLAIN DEALER's <br />top ranked team in northeast Ohio, Number One in the <br />Midwest and ranked as Fourth in the country by USA Today, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this team's achievements are a result of <br />their perseverance, athletic talent, and team spirit, for <br />which we congratulate and commend them; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor extend to the <br />St. Ignatius High School Football Team, Coach Chuck <br />(Chico) Kyle and the Coaching Staff their congratulations <br />for the team'S achievement of the title Division I State <br />Champions. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
