RESOLUTION N©. <br /> <br />6831-93 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend the Lakewood Fire Department's <br />1993 Combat Challenge teams for their exceptional performances at <br />the Second Annual Firefighter Combat Challenge; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on April 3,, 1993, two teams of firefighters, <br />both representing the Lakewood Association of Firefighters and <br />the Lakewood Fire Department, took the first and second places at <br />the Second Annual Midwest Regional Firefighter Combat Challenge <br />in Cincinnati; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, our Lakewood teams emerged at the head of a <br />competitive field of 170 firefighters representing 38 departments <br />from 5 states in a race of fire combat skills and fitness <br />conditioning; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood Firefighters represent two of only <br />three teams in the Midwest region which are now eligible to <br />compete at the National Firefighter Combat Challenge on August <br />28, 1993 in Dallas, Texas; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, 1993 is the second consecutive year that <br />members of the Lakewood Fire Department have won the honorable <br />opportunity to attend the national competition; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the winning teams consist of Dan Waitkus, Paul <br />Jeske, Dave Dunne, John Jedlicka, Dave Paydock, Bernard Nypaver, <br />Ron Link, Mark Condrich and Mike Kilbane; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department's Combat <br />Challenge Teams have, through their rigorous training, hard work, <br />and dedication, brought not only honor and distinCtion to <br />themselves and the entire community, but strong senses of <br />security and assurance to the people of Lakewood, whose pride is <br />their protection; , <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby <br />extend to the Lakewood Fire Department's Combat Challenge Team <br />its commendation, and that of all the citizens of the Lakewood <br />Communityfor their outstanding achievement. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
