RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6850-93 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />GeOrge, Gibbons,~ Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION commending Edward Patrick for his public <br />service as a member of the Department of Public Safety in the <br />City of Lakewood; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Crime Prevention Officer Ed Patrick has <br />selflessly devoted the Past thirty-eight years of his life to the <br />service of Lakewood's citizenry, and to the betterment and safety <br />of the community in which we live; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick's long and distinguished career in <br />City service began with his initial appointment to the Lakewood <br />Police Department on June 1, 1955; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ed's varied interests and talents as a police <br />officer have encompassed many areas of law enforcement over the <br />years, including assignment to the Juvenile Bureau in 1966, and <br />appointment as Special Agent in Charge of the Westshore <br />Enforcement Bureau in 1981; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, since he came out of retirement in 1982 to <br />become Lakewood's first Crime Prevention Officer, he has built <br />and molded Lakewood's Crime Prevention Program into one which now <br />serves as a model for other programs across the State of Ohio <br />earning in the process the Ohio Crime Prevention Association's <br />award for outstanding service in 1989; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ed has also served his fellow police officers <br />as President of both the Western Cuyahoga Lodge of the Fraternal <br />Order of Police and the Metropolitan Crime Bureau; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, his extraordinary knowledge, caring nature and <br />passion for his work have made Ed Patrick an outstanding and <br />beloved co-worker whose absence at City Hall after so many years <br />of constant presence will undoubtedly leave an empty space in the <br />weekdays of all who had the pleasure of working with him; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as we wish him no less than the best of <br />everything for many, many years as he heads once again into his <br />well-deserved retirement, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby <br />extend to Edward Patrick its commendation, and that of all the <br />citizens of the Lakewood Community for his thirty-eight years of <br />public service as an employee in the Division of Safety, <br />of the City of Lakewood, and further that this Council and Mayor <br />wish him continued years of health, happiness and prosperity in <br />his retirement. <br /> <br />Section 2.
