RESOLUTION NO. 6850-93 BY: Boscia, Gallagher, GeOrge, Gibbons,~ Roth, Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION commending Edward Patrick for his public service as a member of the Department of Public Safety in the City of Lakewood; WHEREAS, Crime Prevention Officer Ed Patrick has selflessly devoted the Past thirty-eight years of his life to the service of Lakewood's citizenry, and to the betterment and safety of the community in which we live; and WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick's long and distinguished career in City service began with his initial appointment to the Lakewood Police Department on June 1, 1955; and WHEREAS, Ed's varied interests and talents as a police officer have encompassed many areas of law enforcement over the years, including assignment to the Juvenile Bureau in 1966, and appointment as Special Agent in Charge of the Westshore Enforcement Bureau in 1981; and WHEREAS, since he came out of retirement in 1982 to become Lakewood's first Crime Prevention Officer, he has built and molded Lakewood's Crime Prevention Program into one which now serves as a model for other programs across the State of Ohio earning in the process the Ohio Crime Prevention Association's award for outstanding service in 1989; and WHEREAS, Ed has also served his fellow police officers as President of both the Western Cuyahoga Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Metropolitan Crime Bureau; and WHEREAS, his extraordinary knowledge, caring nature and passion for his work have made Ed Patrick an outstanding and beloved co-worker whose absence at City Hall after so many years of constant presence will undoubtedly leave an empty space in the weekdays of all who had the pleasure of working with him; and WHEREAS, as we wish him no less than the best of everything for many, many years as he heads once again into his well-deserved retirement, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby extend to Edward Patrick its commendation, and that of all the citizens of the Lakewood Community for his thirty-eight years of public service as an employee in the Division of Safety, of the City of Lakewood, and further that this Council and Mayor wish him continued years of health, happiness and prosperity in his retirement. Section 2.
