6865-93 Commend Firefighter Combat Challenge

RESOLUTION NO. 6865-93 BY:Boscia, Gallagher, George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION to commend the Lakewood Fire Department's 1993 Combat Challenge teams for their participation and exceptional performance at the Firefighter Combat Challenge National Championship; WHEREAS, on August 28 and 29, two teams of fire- fighters, both representing the Lakewood Association of Firefighters and the Lakewood Fire Department, participated in the National Championships in Dallas, Texas; and WHEREAS, our Lakewood teams were two of only 30 teams and 40 individuals from our entire country to have earned the right to compete at the event; and WHEREAS, one team, consisting of Dan Waitkus, Paul Jeske, Bernard Nypaver, Mark Condrich and Mike Kilbane placed second in the entire nation; and ~WHEREAS, Bernard Nypaver was one of only seven firefighters at the National Championships to finish the course with a lightning-like time of less than two minutes; and WHEREAS, our other competing team consisted of Dave Dunne, John Jedlicka, Dave Paydock, and Ron Link; and WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department's Combat Challenge Teams have once again through their rigorous training, hard work, and dedication, broUght not only honor and distinction to themselves and th~ entire community, but strong senses of security and assurance to the people of Lakewood, whose pride is their protection; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby extend to the Lakewood Fire Department's Combat Challenge Team its commendation, and that of all the citizens of the Lakewood Community for their outstanding achievement. Section 2.
