Referred to Environmental Cmte 12/6/95. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 6915-93 <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Gallagher, George, Gibbons, <br />Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Director <br />of Public Works, on behalf of the City, to enter into an <br />Agreement with the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Cuyahoga County (the County) as trustees of the Cuyahoga <br />County Solid Waste Management'District, for the <br />implementation of a newspaper marketing cooperative <br />enabling the City of Lakewood to achieve a fair market <br />price for newspapers and magazines. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood and other political <br />subdivisions have been working with the County for the <br />past two years to implement this cooperative, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County solicited and received proposals <br />from companies interested in processing and recycling <br />newspapers collected through community recycling programs <br />and will contract with the successful proposer, Packaging <br />Corporation of America, when the Intergovernmental <br />Agreements have been signed, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the attached Agreement the City will <br />contract with the County for the marketing of newspapers <br />and magazines collected through our recycling program, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Agreement will enable the City of <br />Lakewood to coordinate the collection of old newspapers <br />and magazines with other political subdivisions using one <br />recycling operator to achieve a twenty five percent (25%) <br />reduction of landfill and minimize the cost of collection <br />and disposal of same, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works. recommends that <br /> the City enter into the Agreement with the Board of County <br /> Commissioners of Cuyahoga County; now therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. The Director of Public Works, on behalf of <br /> the City of Lakewood,'is hereby authorized and directed to <br /> enter into an Agreement with the Board of County <br /> Commissioners of Cuyahoga County as Trustees of the <br /> Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management District, <br /> substantially in the form as attached hereto as Exhibit <br /> "A" and incorporated by reference herein, with such <br /> additional provisions as are acceptable to the Director <br /> of Law to protect the public interest. <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all <br /> formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to <br /> the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open <br /> meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations <br /> of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in <br /> such formal action, were in meetings open to t/~ <br /> in compliance with all legal r equirem~~ <br /> <br /> Approved:~~,/~-_7 <br /> Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
