PLBASB SUBSTITUTE For Resolution No. 6930-94 <br />Placed on "First Reading" and <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6930-94 <br /> <br />Referred to Finance Cmte 1/3/94. <br />Placed on "Second Reading on 2/7/94. <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, George, Gibbons, Seelie,, <br /> Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizina the Director of Public Works <br />to enter into a one year aareement with the Lakewood <br />School Board of Education (herinafter the Board] for the <br />purpose of Dermittin~ the Board to use a Citv refuse truck <br />for the collection and disposal of school refuse. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the Lakewood Charter, Article V, <br />Section 2(b] and (c], the Director of Public Works has <br />direct charge of all public utilities and appliances <br />pertaining to the collection and disposal of waste and has <br />recommended that the City enter into an aqreement to <br />cooperate in the pick up and disposal of refuse from the <br />Lakewood Schools; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, bv enterinq this agreement the Lakewood <br />Schools will benefit by disposin~ of school refuse at the <br />City of Cleveland's Ridge Avenue Transfer Station at the <br />City's low. tippinG rate of $21.70 Der ton; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City currently has a sufficient fleet of <br />refuse trucks to accommodate the schools' refuse and the <br />Board will be responsible for fuel~ maintenance~ and labor <br />for the collection and disposal of all school refuse; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cooperating with the Lakewood Schools is in <br />the best interest of the taxpayers of Lakewood as the <br />Schools were incurring costs of approximately $60~000 per <br />year for refuse collection and disposal and such costs <br />will be substantially reduced by the City and the Board <br />joining in this cooperative venture. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. The Director of Public Works shall be and <br />is hereby authorized and directed to enter into.a one year <br />agreement with the Board for the purpose of permitting the <br />Board to use a City refuse truck for the collection and <br />disposal of school refuse. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all <br />formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to <br />the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open <br />meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations <br />of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in <br />such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, <br />in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />Approved <br /> <br /> <br />
