RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6951-94 BY: <br /> <br />Boscia, George, Gibbons, <br />Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A Resolution supporting the passage at the May 3, 1994, <br />Primary Election of the 8.9 mill operating levy for the Lakewood <br />School District and urging support of such levy by all Lakewood <br />citizens. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Board of Education determined that it <br />was necessary to place an 8.9 mill operating levy on the ballot <br />for this May to maintain the outstanding quality of education in <br />our community and continue the high standards of LakeWood <br />Schools, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, our children are our.most precious resource and are <br /> the very future of our City, State and nation, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, quality education is essential for all of our <br /> citizens and contributes significantly to the quality of life <br />'~.~enjoyed by us all, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Schools have consistently provided <br /> outstanding educational opportunities for all our young people <br /> and their progressive and comprehensive programs have been models <br /> for other communities in this area and around the nation, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this is a time for our community to move forward to <br />continue to provide the best possible quality of life for all our <br />citizens and to ensure the high educational standards of our <br />public schools are maintained, expanded and improved; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor pledge their <br />support to the 8.9 mill operating levy that will support our <br />schools for the next 6 years and will be voted on at the May 3rd <br />Primary Election. We urge all citizens of Lakewood to support <br />the passage of that levy to maintain and improve our great school <br />system and the educational opportunities our children now enjoy. <br /> <br /> Section 2. We also pledge to work with the School Board in <br />an effort to identify areas where we ban work together in an <br />effort to control expenditures for common service. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward certified copies of this <br />Resolution to Dr. Daniel Kalish, Superintendent of Lakewood <br />Schools, 1470 Warren Road, Lakewood, Ohio 44107; the Plain <br />Dealer; Lakewood Sun Post; and WestLife, and such other media, <br />civic groups, organizations and other entities or persons as the <br />Mayor or members of Council may request. <br /> <br /> Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of <br />this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br /> <br /> <br />
