RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6959-94 <br /> <br />BY:Boscia, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION designating and proclaiming the week of <br />June 5-11, 1994 as National Safe Boating Week in the City of <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, more than 70 million Americans will choose <br />recreational boating as a way to relax with family and friends in <br />1994. Unfortunately, tragedies do occur on the water. Responsible <br />boat operators learn about the hazards of alcohol and boating and <br />have learned to BOAT SMART, BOAT SAFE, BOAT SOBER; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in recognizing that hundreds of lives could be <br />saved each year by spreading safe boating information to the <br />public, the Congress of the United States by joint resolution <br />requested the President to proclaim annually one week as National <br />Safe Boating Week; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood is bordered on two sides by navigable <br />waterways and it is the intention of this Administration to <br />affirm and support the goals of National Safe Boating Week; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the availability of safe boater information <br />made possible by Rocky River Power Squadron through boater safety <br />week may help prevent a boating tragedy; and <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor support the <br />goals of National Safe Boating Week and designate and proclaim <br />June 5-11, 1994, as National Safe Boating Week in the City of <br />Lakewood and urge all who use our waterways to BOAT SMART, BOAT <br />SAFE, BOAT SOBER to maintain their own safety and the safety of <br />others around them. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of' <br />this Resolution to Bruce J.
