RESOLUTION NO. 6964-94 BY: Boscia, Flannery,.Gibbons, <br /> <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> A RESOLUTION supporting the grant application by the <br />Division of Police to the Ohio Attorney General's office for. <br />funding for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, <br />and commending the Division of Police for its continued efforts <br />to educate young people of the City as to the hazards of alcohol <br />and drugs. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Division of Police [Police] has operated the <br />Drug Abuse Resistance Education [D.A.R.E.] program since 19g0; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D.A.R.E. <br />programs in all elementary and middle schools within the City; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on <br />the young people of the City through education as to the hazards <br />of alcohol and drugs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and <br />graduating from the D.A.R.E. program increases annually; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding to support the continued operation of the <br />D.A.R.E. program is available from Ohio Attorney General's <br />office; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council hereby supports the grant <br />application by the Division of Police to the Ohio Attorney <br />General's office for funding for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance <br />Education program. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this Council hereby commends the <br />Division of Police for its continued efforts in educating young <br />people of the City as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of <br />this Resolution to Mat'thew Biscotti, Chief, Division of Police, <br />12650 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a copy of <br />this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />CLERK <br /> <br /> <br />
